Discussion Dinner with Alan Lovell, Chair of the Environment Agency

Members of the Company and guests held a dinner, under the Chatham House Rule, at the Oxford and Cambridge Club in Pall Mall, London.  It was one of a series of Company events on environmental and governance issues facing the water sector.

Our principal guest was Alan Lovell, Chair of the Environment Agency since September 2022. He is also a Non-Executive Director of SIG plc, Chair of Hampshire Cultural Trust and a Lay Canon of Winchester Cathedral. His executive career included time as a Chief Executive of six companies, including Infinis, Jarvis, Costain and Dunlop Slazenger. He was also Chair of the Consumer Council for Water for four years and has chaired the University of Winchester and the Mary Rose Trust.

Over dinner we heard a clear and powerful message about the work of the Agency and the challenges it faces.  This was followed by wide ranging questions and answers.  The level of interest and engagement was so strong that deliberations contined well past the expected end and late into the evening.

Our grateful thanks to Alan and guests for such a great discussion and our hosts at the Oxford and Cambridge Club for looking after us so well.
