Freemen and Liverymen
You can apply to join the Company as a Freeman or, if you already are a Freeman of the Company and have Freedom of the City of London, or are a Liveryman of another Company, you can apply to join the Company as a Liveryman.
Please use the “Apply to join us” button under the respective membership category below to complete an on-line application form. You will be notified by the Clerk when your application is successful, and the Clerk will notify you of the arrangements for payment.
Most people join as a Freeman and the company sponsors them for Freedom of the City of London. Following this, they are eligible to become Liverymen and to play a full part in the life of the Company and of the City of London.
A Freeman of the Company is entitled to attend all Company Events including either two of the Company’s four core lunches or one of the Company’s four core lunches and the Annual Banquet. In addition, a Freeman of the Company is entitled to attend any City Events, which are not exclusively for Liverymen.
The current joining fee is £100 and thereafter an annual fee (Quarterage), payable in July of each year which currently stands at £305 per annum. At the point when you might progress to become a Liveryman of the Company there will be a fee to pay of £150, this being the difference between the joining fee of a Liveryman and the joining fee of a Freeman.
A Liveryman of the Company can play a full part in the life of the Company and of the City of London and is entitled to attend any Company Event and any City Event open to Liverymen of the City of London, including the Elections of Sheriffs and the Lord Mayor.
The current joining fee is £250 and thereafter an annual fee (Quarterage), payable in July of each year which currently stands at £405 per annum.
