The Water Conservators joined the other Modern Livery Companies in a shared float to participate in the show this year. Our thanks to the Firefighters’ Company for organising a traditional London Bus to transport our baggage, lunch and tired walkers. The Water Conservators were represented by the Master and his Consort Sharon Barker and the Deputy Master and his Consort Eileen Bigg.
It was a great day to welcome Alderman Alastair King DL as the 696th Lord Mayor of the City of London. Londoners, and national and international visitors turned out in large numbers to cheer everyone on. We were particularly pleased to be welcomed by the new Lord Mayor and his predecessor Alderman Michael Mainelli as we passed the Mansion House.
While the new Lord Mayor swore an oath of allegiance to the King at the Royal Courts of Justice (in Westminster) the rest of the Modern Livery were hosted at HMS Wellington moored on the Thames. It was super to be back on the ship. We then made our way back with the fun and celebration of many floats to the Guildhall to recover.
