Coffee Colloquy on UN SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Court Member Allan Barton was on the panel at the Lord Mayor’s Coffee Colloquy around Sustainable Development (SDG) Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production in the Mansion House, organised in partnership with University College London (UCL).

The panel, chaired by Professor Paola Lettieri, Pro-Provost UCL East, included a range of UCL academics as well as colleagues from Newham Council and the Green Alliance.  They showcased their research and explained how their work supports the objectives of the SDG.  The challenging questions included how can we improve on our stagnated recycling rate, reduce incineration and increase repair.  There was a strong emphasis on the need to manage our growing consumption of resources, improve the economics of product design and realise the value of waste streams.
