The Company’s Charitable Trust, The Water Conservation Trust, currently works with students at 15 universities. We provide bursaries to students on post graduate courses who may not otherwise be able to afford to attend the course. We also give a prize each year to the student with the best dissertation. The Deputy Master, Professor Martin Bigg, as a Trustee, recently visited the University of Surrey to hear about how the bursary recipients, Ruth Leslie and Joshua White, have enjoyed their course and benefited from the support of the bursary. He was given a tour of the laboratories and met with Dr Kathy Pond, Programme Lead and Associate Professor in Environmental Engineering and Jen Ratnayaka, Advancement Officer. In discussions ideas were put forward for future funding support: enticing students onto water and environment courses, and potentially encourage better outcomes for that student (if they are able to focus on their studies without additional financial concerns).
