Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch – Guildhall

The Consort Eileen and the Master, as well as other members of our Company and other Livery Companies attended the Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch.  It was hosted by the Lord Mayor and demonstrated the City’s support for members of His Majesty’s Armed Forces and veterans through the three National Service Charities:

  • ABF The Soldiers’ Charity
  • Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity
  • Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund

The Lunch is aligned with the employment and employability strand of the Civic and Mayoral strategy ‘A Better City For All’, providing financial support for veterans to take part in programmes to help them in to work.

The guests included the Princess Royal, senior leaders from the City’s business and professional communities, Masters and members of Livery Companies and Ward Clubs, the senior officers of the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force and members of both Houses of Parliament.  About 1600 attended.

Livery companies also held stalls selling their wares or promoting their activities.

The highlight was the lunch itself undertaken in three sittings, packing the Guildhall. We were able to indulge in delicious curries with unlimited beer and wine.

And an opportunity to photobomb a few Masters.
