stmas holiday was busy for the Water Conservators. We prepared two submissions for the government: one on draft guidance for stormwater overflows and another on a working paper about development and nature recovery. Briefings and the full submissions are archived on our website under the “Policy Position” section.
It is disappointing to report the continuing theme of fragmented government policy and regulation, which we have highlighted in the past. The proposals offered additional initiatives, often conflicting and disregarding existing measures. This reinforces the case for an overarching Strategy for River Management, especially as we await consultations from the Water Commission on the future of the water utility sector.
