A summary will be given of the understanding of the changes that have occurred in global climate due to human activity and how it may change in decades to come. The talk will then turn to the UK and discuss the data for the UK that is available through the 2018 UK Climate Projections (UKCP18). The focus will be on water and the confidence that can be placed on the projections for it.

 

About the Speaker

Sir Brian Hoskins joined the University of Reading in 1971 and has been a Professor in Meteorology there since 1981. In 2008 he also became the Founding Director of the Grantham Institute for Climate Change at Imperial College and is now its Chair. His research is in weather and climate, and in particular the understanding of atmospheric motion on all scales. He has been very involved with the climate change issue both nationally and internationally.
