The Company has responded to two Defra consultations on permitting. One on industrial emissions and one on very small sewage discharges. In doing so the Company observed that these are both parts of a fragmented approach to permitting .It supported both sets of proposals pro-tem with the caveat that, in due course, they should fit into a revised framework of Regulatory Position Statements .It suggested what a revised template for an RPS might look like and used water conservation as a practical example…into which the second set of proposals would fit .This suggestions are consistent with the direction of travel on streamlining of regulation envisaged by the Corry review and the Independent Water Commission.
