The Thames Warden Carolyn Roberts stepped into our Cutter, Water Forget-me-not, as substitute passenger for the Master, for this hotly contested race from Coin Street Shoal outside the Royal Festival Hall to Westminster Boating Base at Chelsea Harbour. The event for cutters is very capably organised by the Thames Traditional Rowing Association. The Challenge is divided into divisions and regularly won by the mixed crew of our cutter.
The race was expertly controlled from the Port Health launch Londinium with support craft available for any rescue required.
Carolyn reports that it was very close with the Water Conservators chasing the Glaziers for most of the race but were robbed of the win! If the course had been longer we would have won! Carolyn has vowed to take action to ensure that next time we will win.
