Official – We are the Trendy Livery Company

“The Trendy Livery Company tackling the most important issues we face today”

The Lady Mayor of London elect, Dame Susan Langley, declared that the Water Conservators are the Trendy Livery Company, at our Michaelmas Court Lunch on HMS Wellington.  She praised our work on water conservation and water management as well as our wider environmental commitment.  Susan and her husband Gary have been long-term friends and supporters of the Water Conservators and are actively committed to the water environment.  During the Covid shut down they bought a narrow boat which they use on the canals.

Dame Susan reflected on the tradition and history of the Livery and the Thames before looking forward to change, growth and opportunity.

In response, our Master Professor Carolyn Roberts noted we were immersed in the subject of water and the environment, and the number of members who have rowed the cutter. We are concerned with micro-plastics, drought, recycling, transport and we all take action from tree planting to turning the tap off when cleaning our teeth.

We are increasing our influence, driving change.  We must continue to grow our membership, share knowledge, support debate, promote good practice and enjoy each others’ company.

At the Court meeting before the lunch we were pleased to David Jeffrey who was upgraded to the Livery.

We were pleased to be welcomed back to HMS Wellington where we have enjoyed many Company and Livery events over the years.
