Water Conservators’ award to Air Cartographer

The Company was pleased to welcome Sgt Matt Brett, Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) Training and Sgt Brett’s LINE MANAGER, Flight Sergeant (FS) Craig Metcalf to its Michaelmas Court Lunch.  After the Lunch the Master presented Sgt Brett with a Company Jug in recognition of his achievements.

The citation stated:

Sgt Matthew Brett was assigned into the School of Air Cartography in March 2023 after working within the Enroute charting Section. His had no experience of the training world and was really thrown in at the deep end. He quickly had to adapt to a new way of working and familiarise himself with the Air Cartography Basic Specialisation course curriculum. This involved reviewing all 85 lessons and review associated lesson plans to ensure he was prepared to deliver the intense Basic Air Cartographer Course. His approach to this was impressive. Furthermore, at month three of his assignment he was tasked to work with the Defence Intelligence Training Group to design the Trade Management training course for Sergeants. This task is a challenge for the most experienced trainer, and he effortlessly rose to that challenge. With assistance from his JNCO, he was able to create a worthwhile course which was researched in depth, enjoyable and engaging. He brought in new technologies to help in the passage of that information, significantly enhancing the knowledge of the trainees, preparing them to become effective SNCOs in the Air Cartography Profession and the Royal Air Force.

The Company is grateful to Past Master Rob Casey for supporting our collective commitment to our Service Colleagues at No 1 AIDU Strategic Command, RAF Northolt.
