We are facing a 5bn litres a day (or 35%) shortfall in water supply by 2055, driven by population and economic growth and climate change. To meet this current plans require: a 20% reduction in per capita water consumption; a comparable reduction in non-domestic water usage; a major programme of new reservoirs; and further significant reduction in leakage (both supply- and customer-side). Our track record on all these fronts is poor. Everyone needs to do something and we will all be affected. Will we take the required actions?

This is the theme of the next year’s City Water Debate. The event is generously supported by Arup and will take place at their headquarters, 8 Fitzroy Street, London W1T 4BJ from 6.00 to 9.00pm on Tuesday 16th March 2027. (Doors open 5.30pm).

The speakers will be:

-Dame Julia Black, Senior Adviser DEFRA

-Mike Keil, CEO Consumer Council for Water

-Paul Leinster CBE, Chair Water Resources East

-Emma Pinchbeck, CEO Climate Change Committee

-Mark Thurston, CEO Anglian Water

The event is by invitation only and is free of charge. Booking via Eventbrite on a first come first served basis will open on 1st December.
