Water and the broader environment have been at the top of the national agenda for some time and are likely to remain so. Our members have a unique combination of skills, experience and perspectives. We are all united in our common mission to ‘promote a diverse and sustainable environment’; we are not tied to any one interest group; and we are keen to promote serious fact-based debate in the face of media discourse which can often seem fractious and partisan.
We have evolved a series of initiatives, which support each other, to fulfil the above mission including:
• our showcase City Water Debate held annually since 2008; this has now been joined by a City Environment Debate to be held later this year
• our Discussion Dinners (Chatham House rule) with senior politicians and leaders in the water and environment sector, again dating back to 2008 but which were re-energised over the past two years
• our monthly podcasts on a range of water and environmental topics which have really taken off over the past three years
• our think pieces and consultation responses which again have taken off over the past three years
As a result we have built up an enviable reputation as a trusted and unbiassed interlocutor and partner in the national debate.
