“Are We Prepared” was the theme of this year’s Livery Climate Action Group (LCAG) Annual Conference held at Merchant Taylors’ Hall on the 26th January 2026. Alderman Alison Gowman, LCAG Chair, along with Sheriff and Deputy Keith Bottomley opened the conference which included four main sessions: Financial Risks, Risks To Life, Building Preparedness, and Food Supply Chains. Baroness Brown of Cambridge DBE FREng FRS FMedSci, Julia King gave a keynote speech on the “Challenges for Climate Change Adaptation”.
Children representing five schools presented poster displays on projects linked to climate action including Winton School (pictured below) whose project on developing school green spaces supported by rainwater harvesting for biodiversity, educational growing areas and well being is funded by the Water Conservation Trust. The children also asked questions of the conference speakers including Baroness Brown which was warmly appreciated by all the conference delegates.
The conference, attended by over 100 delegates, included lunch and an opportunity to interact with the children and their poster displays and was followed by an evening networking session along with canapes and drinks. LCAG and delegates warmly thanked the following sponsors of the event: the Merchant Taylors’ Livery for gifting us the use of the Hall; financial help from the Drapers’ Livery; the University of the Built Environment; and the City of London Corporation. Although the event unfortunately clashed with the Water Conservators Myddelton Lunch, Past Master Rob Casey attended for the Company and in support of Winton School.
