All about the Company
Water is the strand that links economic growth, biodiversity and environmental sustainability. The Worshipful Company of Water Conservators (WCWC) is a vibrant community of professional practitioners, united by a shared belief that together, we can make a difference.
Our membership is diverse, and we count engineers, lawyers, financiers, academics, executive managers, entrepreneurs, policy advisors and artisans amongst our number. Individually and collectively, we’re committed to creating positive change.
Our objectives as a Company are closely aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Areas of focus include access to safe water and sanitation; sustainable infrastructure; responsible consumption; and climate action advocacy.
A modern Livery Company, the WCWC is built on the culture of trust and respect that has been associated with the City of London’s guilds and professional associations since mediaeval times. We actively promote the science, art, and practice of water and environmental management. Through our charity, the Water Conservation Trust, we provide financial support for postgraduate study in water and environmental sciences at the UK’s leading universities.
We are strong advocates for professional and personal development at every stage of our members’ careers – from our thriving Associates programme, through to hosting debates, briefings and webinars that support continual professional development. Our calendar of events has been curated to meet the expectations of our diverse membership. These include multiple opportunities each month where members can come together professionally and socially.
We promote open, fact-based, and constructive dialogue on environmental issues, aiming to bridge gaps and find common ground. We believe in responsible water conservation and environmental protection as essential components of our duty to safeguard our planet. As a modern and inclusive Livery Company, we strive to lead by example, recognising the unique opportunity for positive change within the livery movement. And we embrace innovation as a means to adapt and thrive in a changing environment, leveraging technology and creativity to address environmental challenges.
