Great News from this morning’s Defra Press release

This morning ( 11July ) the Secretary of State included in his announcement on the future of water company management that Water companies will place customers and the environment at the heart of their objectives. The Secretary of State is clear that he expects companies to change their ‘Articles of Association’ – the rules governing each company – to make the interests of customers and the environment a primary objective.

The Company is very pleased with this step forward which is exactly what the Company has been advocating , for example in response to the consultation by Ofwat at the end of last year on modification of Licences to include customer focused principles.

The Master Dylan Barker said that ‘ I am very pleased with this , not only is it good for rebuilding trust in the water sector , but it demonstrates the contribution which our thinking can make .. and we intend to continue with that as water policy develops ‘
