Supporting environmental research and other projects
The Trust does not directly fund environmental research. However, the dissertations of more than 200 students supported under the Universities Programme have made a major contribution to research. The Trust has supported post-graduate student fees and activities on an ad hoc basis.
The Company has a long-standing link with the Maidstone Sea Cadets and the Trust has contributed towards the funding of a new rowing boat, improvements to moorings, and new storage facilities. The Company also makes an annual award towards the cost of a berth on the TS Royalist to give the Best Cadet the experience of sailing on this square rig brig training ship.
The Trust supports families of people formerly engaged in the water and environment industries where hardship has been identified.
The Company and the Trust play their part in City and Livery charities. The Trust supports the annual Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal – including the Big Curry Lunch raising money for the Army Benevolent Fund, the Magical Taxi Tour to the Disneyland Resort in Paris, organised for sick children by the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers, and Treloar College.
